He Will Surely Do It

Wow everyone…

Ok, so I shared a passage of scripture with you the other day because it has been my theme for the past two or three years. It is a passage the speaks plainly of God’s faithfulness.

In the specific context that I shared it, I was thinking of God’s faithfulness as it pertains to my calling and plans. I know God is, and has been faithful in the past with finances and plans but sometimes it is just hard for your head and heart to stay on the same wavelength.

It’s like we still need reminders often…

I entered the residency just coming off of God showing up in a huge way by bringing Ezra home to our family fast, and with no debt incurred. I was totally aware of and celebrated God’s faithfulness but it’s like as soon as I drove into the city limits of Austin, I was completely unsure if God could pull off the next two years.

Throughout the residency I have been blown away by the million different little ways that God has shown me how great He is, and by how He has shown His love for me and my family. It has been so overwhelming that I’ve hardly been able to articulate it all into words on a page (or video for that matter), but if you and I have had a real conversation about one of the little small things, then you know God has been up to something amazing!

A big reminder of God’s faithfulness for me in this current season, was the job offer in Maryland. Just knowing that God put it in the heart of a church to seek hard after shepherds like Tasha and I to join the work they’re doing was huge! To be pursued and valued by God, and by a church, was a big deal to me. I have been rejoicing and thankful every since we accepted the job and now all over again since we have shared the news!

But even with the recent blessings; our doubt, our past, and many other factors find a way to make it hard for us to believe and remember just exactly what our God can do. To put it plainly, we were not sure if we could finish this thing well, and transition in a way that was healthy for our family.

So, we have prayed specifically about the financial aspect of this because living off of the support of ministry partners is difficult (although fulfilling) and because moving is expensive. The thing is, God had it all taken care of!

Take a look at this passage again real quick, and then let me share some good news with you!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-23

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.

23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But now check out this last verse…it is so beautiful, truthful, and concise:

“He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
—1 Thessalonians 5:24 ESV

My family is walking in a promise like this right now…like literally at this moment.

In conjunction with our big announcement, I shared some prayer requests as well as some financial needs…that was just a couple of days ago.

I got an email about my finances today saying that we have everything we need to finish residency AS LONG AS those people who have setup recurring giving continue through the end of May!

Do you know how that happened?!?

It happened because in just a couple of days time, you guys were faithful and obedient to the Lord, and gave us over $5,500 to finish our residency well!

PRAISE GOD!

and

THANK YOU!

Peace & Blessings,
//Billy
