Our family is doing well at the moment. Thankfully we are entering into a fun & relaxing season instead of busy—even with the holidays quickly approaching.
Even though there are less events going on here during this time, we have had more opportunities to gather as a family with others to celebrate what God has done and what He is doing. We love our MC and our LTG (read more about those here), and have used those gathering times to pray for people here and overseas who are living on mission (I can’t wait to write a post soon about our “Goers” and the “100 People Network”).
Tasha & I were able to celebrate 11 years of marriage on November 6th!
On the night of our anniversary some great people were able to watch our kids so we could get away for a few hours to eat and talk without interruption, which has been an extremely rare occurance since moving to Austin. We tried a new place that several have told us about. It was nice to sit and talk with no agenda and in no hurry. Marriages need this often. We are trying to make it a more common occurrence for us, but we are still building up the babysitting network.
We are beyond thankful for each year we get to spend together as we also remember with great humility all that God has brought us through over the past eleven years.
Grace upon grace.
I was able to help with the Austin Stone Worship Conference. The conference was Tuesday through Thursday, Nov. 10th-12th. It was an incredible time serving & hosting over 500 worship leaders and pastors from 26 states and 3 countries! They came to us in need of development & resoursces as well as refreshment & encouragement.
Our team began on Sunday afternoon with some of us in a volunteer meeting. I was introduced as team lead for setup and teardown. My main responsibility was to make sure that all areas were always setup for the right thing at the right time. We used a lot of our spaces for different things throughout the week, including unconferences, resources, prayer room, filming interviews, coffee shop, resources & and sponsors, which meant there was a ton of moving tables, stools, and chairs. As well as cleaning the areas and taking out the trash. Not glorious, but necessary to host & serve well!
From Sunday night until Thursday evening were basically at For The City center with the exception of going home to sleep. It was amazing to serve at that capacity for that long. It left me tired but refreshed.
It has been an extremely busy season for us, partly becase the public school grind is new for us and also The Stone launches a ton of great initiatives in the fall.
We would still appreciate your prayers for us! It has been a little overwhelming with so many changes including adoption. Can you believe Ezra has only been home 8 months! He has already grown and experienced so much, but he is still dealing with Reactive Attachment Disorder and some other things that most adopted kids face. It is tough but God is faithful and good!
We are so thankful that God has blessed us with awesome ministry partners, a great family, amazing friends (old & new) and has entrusted us with an amazing ministry in the city of Austin.
